Bravi ragazzi

Edoardo Bennato (I buoni e i cattivi, 1974)

Una di notte c’è il coprifuoco e…
Pensare che all’inizio sembrava quasi un gioco.
Ora non c’è più tempo per pensare,
tutti dentro chiusi ad aspettare.

Ognuno ha avuto le sue razioni,
poveri e ricchi, cattivi e buoni.
Ognuno ha fatto le sue preghiere,
ora si tratta solo di aspettare.

Bravi! Su,
bravi ragazzi!
Ma non è il caso di agitarsi.
Bravi! Su fate i bravi ragazzi!
Vedrete che poi…
Sistemeremo tutto.

Ah – ah…

Buoni! Su,
buoni ragazzi!
Ma non è il caso di agitarsi.
Bravi! Su fate i bravi ragazzi!
Vedrete che poi, poi…
Sistemeremo tutto, sì,
sistemeremo tutto,
sistemeremo tutto.

Be Good, Guys

Translated by: Francesco Ciabattoni

One in the morning there’s a curfew and…
to think that at the beginning it looked like a game.
There is no time to think now
everyone’s locked in and waiting.

Everyone has received their rations
the poor and the rich, the good and the bad guys.
Everyone has said their prayers
now we can only wait.

Stay put! come on,
be good, guys!
There is no reason to be agitated.
Stay put! Come on, be good guys!
You’ll see…
we’ll fix everything.

Ah – ah…

In order to face the situation
they aired a program on TV.
All the lawyers spoke,
from all sides, from all parties.

It was truly moving to see
all those great people sacrifice their ideas
in the name of the greater good and for the people.
Then they gave strict instructions:
be calm and stay put.

Stay put! Come on,
Stay put, guys!
There is no reason to be agitated.
Stay put! Come on, be good guys!
You’ll see…
we’ll fix everything,
we’ll fix everything,
we’ll fix everything.
