Paolo Conte
A man of few words but a voice of great expressivity, Paolo Conte was born in Asti in 1937. After receiving his degree in law Conte wrote many important songs in a dreamy, jazzy spirit. His coarse but evocative voice is matched by his ability as a pianist in defining his unique style among Italian songwriters. The irresistible groove of ‘Via con me’ (1981) and the melodic intensity of ‘Azzurro’ (1968) soon became signatures of Conte’s style and milestones of the Italian canzone d’autore.
