Afterhours are an alternative rock band formed in the mid-1980s around the main songwriter, Manuel Agnelli. Following two English-language albums (All the Good Children Go to Hell, 1988 and During Christine’s Sleep, 1990), the band turned to Italian (Germi, 1995). Afterhours’ richly diverse style mixes post-punk, post-grunge, psychedelic with melodic, and hard-rock. The 2005 album Ballate per piccole iene features a collaboration with Afghan Whigs’ front man Greg Dulli; in 2006 the album was reissued in English and featured Lou Reed in “The Bed.” The 2002 album Quello che non c’è, written after Manuel Agnelli and Emidio Clementi’s journey to India, turns towards classic rock and more personal, introspective themes.
